Graham’s Recovery

Hi all!

It’s been a challenging couple months, but I've come a very long way since my injury and surgery. I’ve been in 5 different casts and braces, spent many long days in the hospital, and many longer days passing time to get through some rather intense physical pain. With much gratitude, I am now on the other side of the worst of it, and getting back to (still mostly one armed) regular life. I’ve got a metal radial head prosthetic, and a gnarly scar to show for it.

I’m now at the point of needing some fairly intensive physiotherapy over the next three months, in order to regain my arm and wrist function (and more importantly, ability to play guitar).

My surgeon has recommended two to four sessions weekly over the next two months. There's a long line in the Quebec publicly funded therapy system (to which I am in line to access down the road, 6 - 8 weeks from now). However my surgeon says I need to get going immediately to ensure healthy function for the years to come. I've found a local private clinic, and I start tomorrow (Nov 9).

I've appreciated so much the community's support and words of empathy and kindness, and some folks have wondered how they can help. If you feel so inclined, it would be so helpful to get some assistance with the physiotherapy, as I will be paying roughly $2,000 out of pocket until I am accepted into the public system.

The easiest way to contribute would be through e-transfer to my email at grahamsteinman@gmail.com.

Each session is about 90 dollars, but any amount means the world to me. I want to be clear that there is no pressure to give. I just want to open up a space for support for those who have asked about helping. Also, this is not a public fundraiser, but just a link to be shared with people close to me.

Much love,

Graham
